1. AI’s Linguistic Bias:
Thinking Beyond English by Veronica Hylak

As artificial intelligence continues to advance, surprising behaviors are emerging in how models process and reason across languages. There are also intriguing phenomena arising around the AI and language topic. So what about linguistic efficiency, cultural representation, and the biases inherent in AI systems?

The answer comes from Veronica Hylak who shared with us her predictions on the topic. Despite being the founder of Metalinguist, Veronica is an award-winning AI product innovator, startup founder, and host of The AI Almanac vlog, which has engaged over 6 million viewers on LinkedIn and YouTube.
We are seeing reasoning models begin to 'think' in languages like Chinese or Persian, even when prompted in English. Since these models process all text as tokens, they may default to languages deemed more efficient for reasoning tasks, raising critical questions about linguistic biases and the prioritization of certain languages in AI.”

2. The Future of Content: Balancing Automation and Human Expertise by Morana Peric

The future of content localization is poised for transformation as AI and automation continue to advance. In a world of increasing content demands, the question arises: how do we balance efficiency with impact?

This is where Morana Peric gives her prediction on how to balance automation and human expertise. Morana is the Head of Localization at DeepL and also a localization, content, and UX leader. She implements AI and MT daily in her strategies and on translation projects.
In 2025, as content production increases, I believe automation and AI translation of content will continue to increase as well. But there will also be more segmentation of content into high and low impact, which means that highly-specific, high-impact content will need to be especially curated, transcreated, and researched by language professionals to appeal to audiences in their market in the best way, while lower impact, functional content will be automated and machine translated. Think of an instruction manual or an FAQ section vs. a multi-channel brand campaign or a new product release. I foresee efficiency and cost-saving vs. impact hanging the balance in the next few years.

3. Shaping the Future of Localization and AI Technology:
10 Predictions by Blaise Hylak

At this point, we would like to introduce you Blaise Hylak, Program Manager at Come Alive Communications, INC. He usually speaks at language industry events and manages teams for local clients.

His predictions are quite detailed and divided into 10 different points. Let’s analyze them one by one.
“ 1. Decreasing CAT Tool Relevance
The rise of end-to-end AI-powered platforms (like LLMs) will challenge traditional CAT tools. These platforms will integrate contextual understanding, translation, formatting, and review processes into a single seamless workflow.

2. Automation for Document Formatting & Translation

LLMs will not only improve translations but also auto-format documents (e.g., PDFs, PPTs, manuals) directly, saving hours of DTP and QA work. They’ll adapt to different design standards and create publication-ready content.

3. Breakthrough MT for Languages of Limited Diffusion (LLDs)

LLDs
will achieve significant gains in MT quality due to innovative training methods, such as multilingual data augmentation, transfer learning, and incorporating synthetic parallel corpora.

4. AI Interpreting Will Disrupt Live Communication

Real-time AI interpreters
with near-human accuracy will become viable for business meetings, conferences, and public services. These systems will feature adaptive context learning, understanding industry jargon and cultural nuances in real time.

5. Personalized Avatars for Multilingual Communication

AI-generated avatars
will represent company representatives in various languages, for both recorded content and live interactions, creating a more immersive global presence without requiring human fluency.

6. Content Localization Will Be Driven by Voice Cloning

AI tools will create authentic voice clones for CEOs, influencers, and educators, allowing them to speak in any language while preserving their unique tone, style, and personality.

7. Machine Translation as a Creative Partner

Rather than just translating, AI systems will evolve into co-creators, collaborating with linguists to develop new, culturally appropriate content like slogans, brand names, and narratives in multiple languages simultaneously.

8. Dynamic Localization in Real Time

Websites, apps, and AR/VR experiences will feature dynamic, context-based localization. Content will localize in real time based on the user’s location, device language, and cultural context, creating hyper-personalized experiences.

9. Integration of Localization with AR and VR

As AR/VR adoption grows, so will the demand for immersive localization. Tools will localize holographic interfaces, digital overlays, and even virtual assistants in 3D environments

10. Legislation as a Check on New Technology

The race for new technology adoption will be tempered by the necessity of legislation to allow it.

4. The Evolving Role of Localization Professionals in the Age of AI by Miguel Sepúlveda

Miguel Sepúlveda is for sure among the top localization managers nowadays, and asking for his opinion too is to be considered a must at this point.

He is the Globalization Director at King (Microsoft), and he also contributes to the translation management community with his mass-followed blog “Yo localizo.

Here is what he predicts for the future of the localization industry:
My prediction focuses on moving localization activities earlier in the process and how AI is transforming the roles of localization professionals. As AI becomes increasingly important in content creation and localization, localization will play a role from the very beginning, driving many AI-powered initiatives and enabling workflow customization. Localization professionals will also take on new and expanded responsibilities, such as managing AI systems, optimizing multilingual data workflows, and ensuring that AI-generated content is culturally and linguistically appropriate. In many ways, it’s like an elevated version of post-editing, more strategic and integrated into the process, I would say. All in all, I think we will see a reinterpretation of the industry, with more automated workflows, additional skills, and reshaped job descriptions for localization professionals to keep up with the pace of change.

5. AI in Translation: Transforming Global Communication and Beyond by Alfonso González

Last, but not least, we would like to talk about how AI translation is transforming the way companies and individuals access global markets, making communication across languages easier than ever.

Let's explore this point of view with our CEO and Founder.
Alfonso González thinks that: AI Translation will continue facilitating access to global markets and enable communications in an easier way than ever. Companies and individuals can now get to customers/people they would have never dreamt of.

Don’t forget that “there is still the need for humans to check that those translations are accurate, relevant, and culturally valuable for the target markets or target speakers.
AI's impact on the language industry extends far beyond translation, it is also having an important impact in content creation, transcription, subtitling, and in all fields of expertise (technical, marketing, literary, audiovisual, and more).

According to Alfonso, AI will continue its impact on all areas of society and industry, improving productivity, reducing costs, and speeding up processes and that is why its adoption is unstoppable. My advice is to stay on top of the technology, being those who control it and who know how to set up processes and implement improvements thanks to its use.

Conclusion

As we look ahead, the localization industry is clearly on the cusp of profound change. From AI-driven innovations to the redefinition of professional roles, these shifts bring both exciting opportunities and new challenges. The balance between automation and human expertise will remain critical in delivering impactful, culturally resonant content that connects with global audiences.

By staying adaptable, embracing new technologies, and refining workflows, localization professionals and businesses can lead this transformation. The future of localization is not just about technology, it's about blending creativity, strategy, and innovation to bridge cultures and bring the world closer together.

We would like to thank the localization managers who shared their knowledge and predictions with us with their expertise about the topic.
