Courses - General Information

The information on courses in this section,
refers to courses purchased individually and not to subscription plans.

1. Who are TranslaStars courses for?

Our courses are aimed at all language professionals (translators, philologists, linguists, etc.) or language lovers who want to take their skills to the next level on specific fields of knowledge.

2. What are TranslaStars courses for?

TranslaStars' courses are intended for you to train in certain specialties to become a better language professional.

If we look at things another way, when you get your driver's license, you have the right to drive, but you are not an expert in driving (something you learn little by little).

TranslaStars courses (mainly the ProD+T and ProD+L ones) develop your skills as a language professional by giving you feedback and an evaluation that helps you improve with each project and prepares you for the real world of translation.

In addition, with paid projects in ProD+T courses, you recover part of your investment and increase the chances of being able to continue working in your chosen field of expertise in the future.

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

3. Are TranslaStars courses only available online?

In fact, you can do them from wherever you want and at your own pace.

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

4. Why do I have to fill in a form with my details when I start the course?

We check that the profile of those who are going to take our courses is in line with the philosophy and characteristics of the courses (if your profile is not suitable for a course, we will contact you and, if you agree with us, we will refund the course fee).

In addition, we use your details (provided you give us permission) to provide them to companies looking for translators like you, trained in different fields of expertise.

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

5. If I pay the cost of a course and then I can't do it, do I get a refund?

The payment of the course implies that you have read our conditions. Unfortunately, we cannot refund the amount paid for the courses because we have to pay the agreed percentages for students to instructors, managers, etc.

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

6. How much time do I have to finish a course?

The courses are done at your own pace. We do not impose a time limit for you to finish them.

In the case of the courses with online paid training, you must have completed the course before you can start with the paid projects. In this type of course, if after one year since you enrolled you still haven't obtained your certificate, you will be able to continue doing the course, but you will lose the right to do the paid training part.

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

7. What languages are used in the courses?

Courses on the .com site are mainly delivered in English, however there can be courses with specific language combinations (if that was the case, you would find all the information in the course description).

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

8. Why is it sometimes not possible to purchase a course? Why are some courses closed?

Sometimes we close courses because we have reached the maximum number of students we can manage in those courses (mainly in ProD+T and ProD+L courses), because we are updating them and/or because they are not yet ready to be launched.

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

9. How does the course refund work if it does not meet my expectations?

We allow you to take the first three units of any course (within 14 days) without obligation (third unit included). If upon completion of the third unit (or earlier) of the course you have chosen, its structure and contents do not match your interests, just send us an email to info@translastars.com explaining the reason and we will refund you the course fee.

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

ProD+T Courses - Online Paid Training

1. What is the training about in ProD+T courses? What is the online paid training?

ProD+T courses offer paid online training (so you can do them from wherever you want) after the completion of the course.

We have reached agreements with tutors and agencies who offer these projects and training, and provide you with feedback and evaluate all your projects (you will work with real projects that must be delivered to a final client) so that you can apply in the real world everything you have learned during the course alongside an experienced professional.

These projects are a trial period for you to fearlessly put into practice what you have learned (don't be afraid of making mistakes, we all do it, but that's what tutors are for, to identify what can be improved on, to show you how, and for you to learn from the experience).

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

2. How do I recover part of my investment with the paid training in ProD+T courses?

Since the training is based on paid projects, the idea is that you recover at least 35% of the amount invested in the cost of the ProD+T course.

The advantage, besides recovering part of your investment, is that these projects are tutored at all times and you receive feedback and an evaluation for each project you do.

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

3. Do I have to carry out the paid training of the ProD+T courses from a specific location?

No, the paid training is done from wherever you want. The only thing you have to do is to complete it according to some requirements and to deliver the assigned projects on the set dates. Before you can start doing the projects, you must obtain the certificate of completion of the ProD+T course.

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

4. Is it possible to combine the paid training with other academic or work activities?

This is possible as long as you have a high level of commitment to the course and you inform the tutor.

It is important in these cases to make clear your availability and take into account that a maximum of 2 projects can be rejected without justification. If this limit is exceeded, the student will no longer be assigned projects.

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

5. How much can I recover doing the paid training?

You will recover at least 35% of the course price.

At the discretion of the tutor and with your agreement, you may even be assigned more projects if the tutor deems it appropriate for you to continue your learning process.

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

6. Do you continue to assign work to students once they have finished their training?

Our main objective is that, by the end of the courses, the students will be able to produce quality translations. As long as they have reached an adequate level of quality (which we determine with the evaluations of the real projects carried out), we will recommend them to the companies that collaborate with us.

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

7. What do I have to do in order to receive payment for the training?

You must issue a legal invoice with all your details: name, surname, address, ID/Passport or tax number, European VAT number (if you are based in the EU and live outside the training provider's country of residence).

The course tutor will provide you with the details of the person/company you are providing services to so that they you can invoice them properly.

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.

8. How much will I be paid for the paid training?

TranslaStars only sets the minimum payment per word/minute/page to students in a course.

Students are usually paid far more than the minimum.

You should consider this training (which help you recover at least a 35% of what you have paid for a course) as a transitional trial period in which your tutor will provide you with feedback and evaluate your projects on a personal basis.

Always check the conditions of our courses before enrolling.
