People Management in Localization
“Soft” skills? They can actually be tough, and are badly needed. Many newly promoted managers are thrown into the deep end. Project management: comes with experience and can be learned. People management: often overlooked, and can be learned, too!
Localization management includes more than managing project deadlines, terminology, strings, and TMSs. Work includes relationships, and people have emotional needs – yes, even with “work/life balance”. Managers have to work across all levels of an organization – up, down, laterally, internally, and externally. We created this course because we know that while managing people isn’t rocket science, it also isn’t always intuitive and it deserves training and intention.
You might be in a localization leadership position already. You might be looking to grow into management roles. Due to an idea called The Peter Principle, it’s common for employees to get promoted into the job where they’re least competent. Don’t get stuck as a manager without feeling confident in your job. Like all skills, learning to lead is possible. So-called soft skills contribute heavily toward success in your job or career.
Localization leaders face the combined challenges of a rapidly evolving work environment and managing complex, intracultural dynamics, which is why TranslaStars has partnered with a leading management trainer to support your success as a manager.
Created by Stephen Nock, a localization team-manager turned professional coach, this course supports you to better know the challenges and competencies of managing people. Based on principles of emotional intelligence, you’ll explore commonly-valued management skills, as well as define your own pathway and profile of leadership.
