Introduction to Medical Device Localization

This introductory course on medical devices will guide you on your journey to becoming a localization expert for medical devices.

It has two important aims: to prepare you for localizing medical devices effectively and efficiently and to help you gain confidence as a translator of medical device content.

In this course, you’ll learn to:
identify and classify different medical devices;
identify different types of target readers and adapt the content to suit their needs;
localize different types of medical device content, including medical device labeling, user interfaces and marketing content;
find reference materials specific to medical devices,
leverage the DITA standard used in the localization of technical content.

The course consists of five modules with activities and further readings to help you access additional information about the topics.

Course and panellist description

Embark on a journey to become a localization expert for medical devices. Throughout the five modules of the course, you’ll learn everything you need to know to start localizing medical devices. The course contains activities and real-life examples to help you reinforce the key points of the course.

Milica is an English-into-Serbian translator specializing in the localization of medical devices. Her primary focus includes medical devices for vascular intervention, in vitro diagnostics, gastroenterology, orthopedics, medical imaging and laboratory data management. She has condensed her 7-year experience into the 90-minute course to help you specialize in this exciting field.

Meet

Milica Dragićević

Milica is an English-Serbian translator specialized in the localization of medical devices. She graduated from the University of Novi Sad in Serbia, where she currently lives.

She started her career in translation in 2016 while pursuing her master's studies. One year later, she discovered her passion for medtech and decided to specialize in this area.

Her main focus is on medical devices for vascular intervention, in vitro diagnostics, gastroenterology, orthopedics, medical imaging, and laboratory data management.

Milica is enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge and contributing to the localization community in the Balkan region. She founded a blog for translators in Serbian and previously served as a LocLunch ambassador. She is a co-founder and vice president of the Association of Freelance Workers of Serbia.
